Sol is Solu’s artificial intelligence system, designed to conduct structured interviews, screen candidates at scale, and organize comparable data to support hiring decisions. It functions as a technology-assisted senior recruiter, with a defined scope, clear boundaries, and transparency regarding what it does and does not do.

What does Sol do?

Sol plays three key roles in Solu's recruitment process.

The first step is to conduct interviews. Sol talks with the candidate in a structured format, asking questions tailored to the position, listens to the answers, asks for examples when appropriate, and seeks clarification when an answer is vague. The goal is not to grill the candidate, but to ensure they have enough time to explain their career path.

The second step is to organize the information. At the end of each interview, Sol categorizes the responses into comparable categories: experience, examples, contexts, and alignment with the job requirements. This transforms a conversation into data that can be used to inform decision-making.

The third is to assist in compiling the shortlist. By comparing candidates against criteria set by the hiring company, Sol identifies the profiles that best match the requirements, without deciding on its own who should be hired.

What can't Sol do?

Sol does not make hiring decisions. The final decision is always made by the company that posted the job opening. Sol provides organized and reliable information, but the hiring process depends on subsequent steps carried out by the company’s team.

Sol isn’t just another generic chatbot either. She doesn’t respond to every topic, she doesn’t try to please everyone, and she doesn’t accept vague answers as sufficient when the context calls for more detail. If someone replies, “I have a lot of experience,” Sol asks for a specific example. If a candidate is disrespectful, Sol doesn’t condone that behavior.

And Sol doesn’t replace the recruiter’s work. It handles the structured and repetitive tasks—asking questions, listening, organizing, and comparing—so that recruiters and managers have the time and data they need for the work that truly requires a human touch: reading the context, conducting final interviews, making offers, and coordinating with the hiring department.

How does Sol conduct interviews?

The interview conducted by Sol follows a script developed in collaboration with the hiring company. The questions are tailored to the specific position and are not generic. For each answer, Sol may ask follow-up questions to probe further, requesting examples, context, or clarification.

Candidates participate in the interview via text, voice, or video, depending on the format specified. The average duration is 25 to 40 minutes. At the end, candidates receive confirmation that the interview is complete and information on what to expect next.

The interview is structured to generate comparable data. This means that two different candidates answered the same questions, with the same level of detail, and can be compared based on objective criteria.

How does Sol ensure transparency?

Transparency is one of Solu’s core values, and at Sol, this is reflected in four key areas.

  • For the candidate: they know they are being interviewed by an AI, they know the purpose of the data, and they know their rights regarding it.
  • For the contracting company: Sol’s report outlines criteria, responses, and justifications. It is not a black box.
  • For the Solu team: AI decisions are auditable and can be reviewed by humans when necessary.
  • What Sol doesn't know: when a criterion was not addressed in the interview, this is explicitly noted in the report; it is not concealed.

Is Sol compliant with the LGPD?

Sol’s operations were designed in accordance with the General Data Protection Law. Candidates are informed about the use of AI prior to the interview. Data is used solely for the specific purpose of the selection process. We have policies in place regarding data retention, access, and deletion at the data subject’s request. For more details, please see our privacy policy and the article on the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) in AI-assisted interviews.

What are the limits of the Sun?

Solu excels at three things: structuring conversations, refining responses, and organizing data. It does not replace human interpretation of nuances outside the script, does not conduct offer negotiations, and does not make the final decision on whether a candidate is a good fit for a manager. Solu makes these limitations explicit so that the client knows exactly where AI adds value and where human involvement remains essential.

How to Get Started with Sol

Companies that want to use Sol in their processes can get started in two ways:

  • Standalone: Solu handles the entire recruitment process, from the interview to the shortlist.
  • Connected to the ATS: We integrate with Gupy, InHire, Greenhouse, and others to screen applications that come in through the ATS before they move further down the funnel.
