How Valetec Capital used Solu's AI to hire better

In addition to using Sol to screen and qualify candidates for the shortlist, Valetec used Solu Balance, Solu's behavioral neurochemical analysis, to understand the candidates' current situation and their fit with the company.

A Valetec Capital, a corporate venture capital firm focused on accelerating businesses and assembling high-level teams for its investment fronts, needed to fill two critical positions: Investment Analyst for CVC and Trainee/Junior Investment Analyst. The challenge was clear: in addition to attracting qualified candidates, it was necessary to ensure a selection process with in-depth screening that was efficient and aligned with the technical requirements of the investment market.

Before starting the process, there were different internal perceptions at Valetec Capital about the use of AI in recruitment, considering the complexity of the positions and what was understood about the stage of AI in Brazil for interviewing and qualification.

How Solu worked on the project

Solu joined as a strategic partner, operating on two complementary fronts:

  1. Selection process consulting: support in structuring the funnel, promoting vacancies, and guiding candidates before, during, and after the stage with Sol.
  2. Technology (Sol Recrutadora + Solu Balance): Sol interviewed 100% of the candidates, analyzed the conversations, and delivered a shortlist and neuroscientific data in a practical way to the HR and leadership team.

According to Joquebede Oliveira, recruiter and HR manager at Valetec, "the process of accessing and using Solu on a daily basis was super easy and smooth."

Candidate experience

A key point of the project was the candidates' acceptance of the AI interview. Joquebede reported that she made a point of validating this directly in subsequent interviews:

“That was one of the questions I asked all candidates in the video interview about their experience with AI. Everyone found it intuitive, practical, and fast, and the candidates' answers were always aligned with the context of the questions.”

This reinforces a key differentiator of Solu: Sol not only automates the first step as if it were a chatbot. It creates a clear, fluid experience that is perceived as fair by the candidate.

Results achieved by Valetec Capital with Solu

The selection process lasted three weeks and ended with six hires for Valetec's investment team. AI conducted an in-depth screening without relying on resumes:

  • 100% of candidates were interviewed by Sol
  • 75% were pre-rejected due to lack of technical adherence — based on the content of the interview, not keywords in the resume.
  • 25% proceeded to the business case stage
  • More than 50% of those who passed advanced, culminating in the six final selections.

Joquebede emphasizes that Sol was decisive in ensuring the quality of the funnel and the logistical efficiency of the process: “In logistics in general, the practicality of Sol’s assessment was crucial to ensuring the effectiveness of the selection process,” reinforcing that the neurochemical assessment of candidates through Solu Balance, a basic functionality for improving qualifications developed by Sol, “was the essential factor in choosing candidates for the next stage, together with the profile that the company is looking for.”

“The use of Sol had an impact on the team and directly helped to restructure it,” he emphasizes.

 Final perception of Valetec

The combination of AI interviews, Solu Balance, and advisory support generated confidence and satisfaction with the process, even changing the initial perception of risk and mistrust about how prepared Sol was for interviews for such detailed positions. For Joquebede, the gain is inevitable for the market. "Artificial intelligence is the future, offering practicality and ever-increasing growth in the market; therefore, adapting to this new technology is essential." In a nutshell, she sums up Solu as: "Technology, practicality, and effectiveness."

The experience paved the way for a larger strategic move: Valetec began to consider Solu as part of its toolkit to accelerate selection processes in investee companies, offering AI for screening as a differentiator of its own CVC model.

“In the venture world, we talk all the time about efficiency, scale, and data. I wanted to see if this could exist in recruitment without losing depth. Solu proved that it could: Solu conducted interviews with all candidates, quickly eliminated those who didn't really fit, and gave us a quality shortlist. The process was faster, the decision was more confident, and the concrete result came: six people hired for two critical positions. For me, this is not cold automation: it is a new way of understanding people and making better decisions," adds Peter Seiffert, CEO and Founder of Valetec Capital.
